Medical Certificate

Post by Tom Bistricki »

I passed Cat 3 medical examination on April 6. this year but didn't receive a document sticker from Transport Canada yet.
Contacted TC yesterday and was sent a form to be filled requireing personal info and a subject of inquiry.
The reponse was almost instant:
"Transport Canada, Civil Aviation Medicine has received your application for an aviation medical certificate. However, further review and/or information is needed before a decision can be made. You will be contacted directly if any further action or information is required on your part, shortly".
In addition, I was informed that contrary to the infomation disseminated from CSA, Category 4 medical certificate is still valid for five years.

Hi Tom
Contact your Member of Parliament.
Meanwhile, why not come on down and fly P2 until this gets straightened out ?

I could be mistaken, but I think you can fly solo with a Cat. 4 medical. You cannot fly with anyone else as P1 but can fly P2 with someone else acting as P1 who has the proper qualifications.
