Golf carts
A DI needs to be done to golf carts in the morning. Check the fuel level in the gas carts every morning. Check tires are inflated. Check overall integrity of the structure, and the reel and rope.

Re: Golf carts
Just bumping this thread because at the beginning of the season we should be reminded of the proper procedures.
Don't forget to DI the golf carts (thanks, Doug)

Re: Golf carts
Also, please let me know if there are any issues with any of the ground equipment. I repaired both string weed wackers and the John Deere garden tractor this morning...I was unaware there was anything wrong with them. I went to use them this morning and they did not work.
All is working now.

Re: Golf carts
Aside from a quick walkaround to ensure the tires aren't flat, I don't see the benefit of mandating any kind of golf cart DI, and I'm not concerned about them from a safety perspective. I'm happy to hear opposing opinions though.

Re: Golf carts
A DI shall be done before a golf cart is used. It is not about safety primarily. It is about having equipment that continues to work properly and addressing issues so they do not get big or occur during operations. It takes very little time, and I do not have patience for excuses about something so basic. You all DI your gliders and it takes much longer.

Re: Golf carts
Okay, fair enough, but a few things to consider then:
Sure, we can do this, but it's a change. I for one will begin doing, at the very least, a walk around, and "kick the tires", before I take a golf cart out.
- What will be inspected? We'll need some kind of "official" checklist. Doug's suggestions in the first post in this thread I think are good.
- What is the training criteria for golf cart DIs?
- Who is qualified to check people out for it?
- How will the records of who is qualified to check them out be kept? (I would suggest we do it just like tractor checkouts, in an informal fashion)
- Where will the records of these inspections be kept? (Or do we really not need to keep records)
- Perhaps most importantly, how will this be enforced? Who will correct me when I drive a golf cart out of the hangar so gliders can be moved out, if I have not DI'ed it first?

As Doug wrote: just do it."A DI needs to be done to golf carts in the morning. Check the fuel level in the gas carts every morning. Check tires are inflated. Check overall integrity of the structure, and the reel and rope" for electric "lift set visually check condition of connectors"
We will put a sticker on all golf carts, based on Doug's points
Plus a line on where to find golf cart fuel.

Re: Golf carts
Doug wins

I drove a golf cart out of the hangar this morning, skipping the DI, to realize a hundred feet later that a tire was flat. It was inflated when I parked it last night, but flat this morning. Barry can speak to the damage I caused by driving on a flat tire to save myself sixty seconds.
(And thanks Barry for fixing that so lickety split like)
