Credit where credit is due:

John Brake made the bread from which the stuffing was made. He was in horrible pain. Just awful. But he was nonetheless cleaning up after me and Tracey. Sure... my feet hurt. But seeing John soldiering through that kind of pain to make a meal for us... it's one of the things that kept me going.

He deserves a lot of gratitude for that, and a lot more than he's getting.

The green beans are my mother's recipe - add butter and then toss in nutmeg and allspice. The mashed potatoes too - add nutmeg and allspice.

The oxtail soup is my grandmother's recipe... Boil oxtail for four hours with a bay leaf.

The apple pie, yes, that one is mine. The secret ingredient is dill. The cranberry sauce too (secret ingredient is Grand Marnier).

I didn't have to cook this meal -I got to cook it. I love making feasts. I love watching people eat my food, and I love bringing people together.

Thank you all for coming out, and may we have many happy returns.

Everyone was very appreciative, so thanks to all of Ken, Tracey, John .... and the washer uppers (I only noticed Rob in the evening and Tom in the morning, but probably others too).

Member attendees were down to 19 + 2 wives. But we did have 13 guests (Paul Lamont and wife, Doug Shaw +4, Garrett/Robin+1 and Israel/Marielle +2 all 5th line neighbours).

There was certainly a lot of social interaction and banter during the evening. Thanks again.

Adding my thanks, I had a great time. Food and company were both a fantastic treat. This year, with so much strife in the world, it's worth taking a moment to be grateful for how lucky we are.

Thanks to all for a great feast. It was a wonderful ending to a good day.

P.s. If anyone comes across a faded black bucket hat with a Motorola logo, it's mine. I think I stranded it near the NW corner of the clubhouse.
