What happened with the Sugarbush, VT outing while I was absent? That was a fun trip, and only 8-9 hours of driving. I got my Gold climb there, and missed my Diamond climb by 350 metres one year. We had some tag-alongs from Toronto Soaring and Great Lakes Soaring to fill out our numbers.

I spoke to Tom Anderson at Sugarbush last month and initially he seemed opened to us coming down in October, but he wanted to review the situation with his staff. Here is Tom's response after his staff review.

Hi Wayne,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding the upcoming wave season. While we truly value the camaraderie and collaboration with York Soaring and other clubs, unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position where we cannot host this year.
Due to limited resources, staffing challenges, and an exceptionally heavy workload this season, we need to prioritize our current commitments. This decision wasn't made lightly, and we sincerely hope for opportunities to work together in the future.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership. Wishing you a successful and enjoyable wave season.
Warm regards,
Tom

so perhaps there is the possibility of interested parties joining that outing.

So if we as a club wanted to participate in activities like this in the future what would that entail?
Other than not having the Oxygen gear the DG500 would be ideal for this. It would be a long drive with a trailer but not that much further than the annual drive to Florida.

So here is why I missed Yorksgiving.
I was out west to visit family and was able to get away for a day to visit Cowley.

The conditions were great and people were able to climb well above 17000 MSL.
There were a few private gliders and club ships from several clubs across Alberta.
The campground is quite basic with basic bathroom facilities and water from a hand pump well.
