Map Elevations

Hypsometric Tint is the colours on charts for different regions of elevation. The position of the highest point of elevation on a given map is located in the area of the legend that deals with the hypsometric tint.

Map Symbols

Other features on the map are identified by comparing the symbols seen to those found in the various legends found in the margins of the map. Major towns, roads, lakes and streams, obstructions such as powerline, aerodromes, and other points of interest are outlined in these legends. VNC charts are designed for visual navigation and reflect the right degree of detail to determine an aircraft's postion during flight with a little practise.
