Soaring Meteorology

Soaring is linked intimately with the environment. Glider pilots depend on rising air currents and this often leads into situations that other pilots would avoid. Soaring depends mainly upon thermal currents, ridge winds, and wave actions over obstructions. It is worth spending some time on each of these with an eye to how they might affect learning how to fly.
