Student Solo Flying

To go solo you must hold a valid student pilot permit and medical certificate, and be certified ready to
solo by a valid Canadian glider pilot instructor. Certification as ready, requires examination on rules
and regulations, normal and emergency flight procedures, and successful completion of a flight test
judging the pilot’s skill. Once solo, all flying must be under an glider flight instructor’s supervision. No
passenger carrying is allowed, and all flying must be confined to within 25 nautical miles of the airfield
where launched under day Visual Flight Rules.
