Repeating the Process

Mike Apps likened his S.O.A.R. as the steps for a dance that was a flight. The last part, of course, is repeating the steps. This is the relentless part about flight that instructors must initiate students to. The keys are in the directing of attention. Understanding the types of situations will dictate the rhythm of the steps. Everything may be a bit more cut and dried in the ‘Red’, as the focus is a bit narrower. It will be hard for most pilots to make complex decisions in this state. Things can be a little less ‘up tempo’ in the ‘Yellow’, and we can often do a ‘slow dance’ in the ‘Green’. Regardless of the tempo, students must keep dancing until the flight is over.
