Safety At The York Soaring Association

"You don't rise to the occasion.  You sink to the level of your training" - adage posted at the Ridge Soaring Gliderport

Safety is defined to be freedom from danger, risk, or threat of harm, injury, or loss to personnel and or property, whether caused deliberately or by accident.

At York Soaring we have a mix of many different kinds of activities and people of widely different experience in dealing with them safely. These on-line materials are just a part of our efforts to ensure that everyone who visits our operation has a safe and enjoyable experience.

One of the most important aspects of safety is avoiding the unsafe situation. We do this by developing patterns in both our actions (Safety Habits) and our environment (Safety Structures) that help us steer clear of unsafe events.
